Miami is not only know for its fun family attractions, fabulous beaches, and fashion-conscious crowd, but also for its culinary achievements. Little Havana’s main street, Southwest 8th Street, is bustling with people enjoying its delicious assortment of Cuban cuisine. This street is a must-visit for travelers, showcasing the diverse culinary talents of the city’s Cuban immigrants.

Recently named one of the Tastiest Streets in Miami by GOOD Magazine, they recommend Los Pinarenos Fruiteria for fresh squeezed sugarcane and orange juices, Casa Panza for tapas and Flamenco dancing, San Pocho Restaurant for 75 cent empanadas, Taqueria El Mexicano for bistec a la Mexicana, and the local favorite Versailles Cafe.

I promise that it IS possible to keep those “eat healthy” New Year’s Resolutions even while on vacation! After you’ve been bicycling down the beach and taking tours of beautiful downtown Miami, it’s time to grab something to eat!

Filling yourself up with natural and tasty food is easy in a place like Miami, famous for their beaches and fresh fare. Maria over at Miami Beach 411 has put together a wonderfully comprehensive guide to What Everybody Ought to Know About Healthy Eating in Miami Beach. Defining healthy food as, “food that is served as fresh and wholesome as possible, with the highest nutritional value, whether it cater to vegans, vegetarians or omnivores,” this guide offers something for everyone!

Washington Avenue offers choices from delicious fruit and fresh-squeezed juices at Fernandez Fruit Market to late-night pitas at the Pita Pit, while you can pick up snacks for the beach at Apple a Day, Epicure, and Smoothie King.

If you’d like a sit-down meal, check out The Gourmet Carrot for vegan soups and sandwiches or Nexxt Cafe for cocktails and super-generous portions. Maria ends her article with a personal favorite, Oasis, serving up the best in Mediterranean and healthy American fare.

The Miami Dolphins

February 21st, 2008 by keith f

Miami DolphinsMiami Dolphins Photo uploaded by Free-ers

The Miami Dolphins will have a whole new look for the 2008-2009 season as wholesale changes have been made from the front office, to the coaching staff, to most recently a slew of players, some longtime Dolphins, being released.. Most recently 12 year vet and Pro Bowler Zach Thomas was let go. Some of the water boys may have received their pink slip as well. A few months back, owner Wayne Huzienga decided to make the leap and bring in Bill Parcells to lead the football operations of his beloved Dolphins.

Parcells has been known to “clean house” and that has been no different with the Dolphins. They have a new GM in Jeff Ireland, a new coach in Tony Sporano, a new offensive coordinator in Dan Hennings and the on the field Dolphins will have a whole new look come next season. It may take a while for all the new changes to take effect but we know for certain it will only get better as last year’s Dolphins win total was a grand total of one. You also never know with the Tuna as he is very good at turning things around in a hurry.

If you’d like to see the new look Dolphins in 2008, please their site for more information.
